The next step in the Amenity Center timeline is to finish the stone retaining walls by the pool. Once those are complete, we will be able to start the final work on the parking lot area. Along with permanent water service, these steps are important for us to obtain our certificate of occupancy. During March, we expect to receive our interior furniture and fitness equipment.
Over the weekend, we were the host site for the Bright’s Creek Collegiate Ladies Invitational hosted by Gardner Webb. Six college teams completed in both team and individual stroke play for 54 holes. Presbyterian College held on for a one-stroke win over Evansville and two strokes over Gardner Webb. Gardner Webb, led by a 62 from one of their players, made up 11 strokes in the final round to make the competition close. This is the second year in a row we have hosted this event, and we look forward to 2024.
This week the golf maintenance staff will continue to apply herbicides to all of the Bermuda grass. These herbicides will target the existing annual bluegrass and prevent crabgrass and goose grass from germinating this spring. We hope to have this completed by the middle of this week or first of next week.

This week’s lesson topic is SPEED. Speed is the most important thing on the green, it affects your green reading, starting line and the length of your next putt. Watching the best players in the world on a weekly basis shows the viewer that speed is what helps determine 2 putts versus 3 putts. PGA Tour in 2022 was over 96% make rate inside of 5 feet.
The Members have been very active over the last couple of weeks supporting different local organizations. Bingo at the VFW, Steps to Hope Boots & Bling 2 fundraiser, and organized a trash pick up along Palmer Rd., followed by a social at the club.
