Situated in the stunning foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and just around the corner from Bright’s Creek, is the Mill Spring Ag Center. Home to an eclectic array of tenants, this iconic building hosts art studios, local businesses, creative office spaces, and a performance space where you can enjoy live music and more. Just recently, the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, a talented musical act featured on NPR’s popular Tiny Desk series, joined our community for the Grand ReOpening of the Auditorium at the ag center. Whether you’re an artist, creative maker, or are just looking to appreciate the North Carolina arts scene, a stop at the Mill Spring Ag Center is a must.

Just around the corner on Mother’s Day weekend is the Lake Lure Arts & Crafts Festival. Take a scenic 25-minute drive up to serene Lake Lure and enjoy entertainment and arts vendors from talented textile artists to painters, photographers, and more!   

A quick 30-minute drive from our Bright’s Creek’s gates, you’ll find the flourishing Tryon Fine Arts Center. This local cultural destination is on a mission to serve as the creative driving force for performances, exhibits, arts education, and community partnerships right here in the Foothills. From arts education and outreach to exhibits at their JP Gallery, plus a packed spring schedule full of film screenings and exciting live concert series, you won’t want to miss a date night or a fun family outing here during your visit to our mountain paradise.

Keep your arts tour in Tryon going when you enjoy a play at Tryon Little Theater, a destination for theater arts since 1948. This local nonprofit organization promotes and enhances excellence in the creative and artistic within the community by inviting, involving, and developing talent through outreach, education, and performance opportunities, turning fun into an art form. Also within a short 30-minute drive from Bright’s Creek is The Gallery at Flat Rock, a local haven for contemporary fine art and jewelry since 2015. Discover the incredible works of more than 60 regionally and nationally acclaimed artists in an inviting gallery space featuring some of the finest art in Western North Carolina.

The thespian adventure continues with a visit to Flat Rock Playhouse, an award-winning theater just under 40 minutes from Mill Spring, NC. Designated as the official State Theatre of North Carolina, this 1940s playhouse hosts more than 100,000 patrons annually, solidifying itself as a significant part of the iconic arts scene in North Carolina. No North Carolina arts tour is complete without a visit to the energetic city of Asheville, less than an hour’s drive from Bright’s Creek.
